Questions & walkthroughs

The things people ask us most.

Six short videos for the sign-up steps, and written answers for the policies underneath. If yours isn’t here, the front desk will have it.

Getting started

New here.

How do I get a player rating?

Call the front desk at 630-282-4888. New players create a profile and get a player rating before they can register for a class.

This is not a formality. The class list only shows classes that match the rating on your account, so an account without one will look almost empty.

What is the free 30-minute evaluation?

If you have played before, we put you on court for 30 minutes at no charge so a coach can see your level and place you in the right class. It is free for experienced players, juniors and adults alike.

Complete beginners don’t need one. Junior Competition players new to the club start in Futures; adults new to tennis start in Tennis University.

What comes with a membership?

Court reservations at $10 to $30 an hour depending on how far ahead you book (within 90 minutes is $10, more than 48 hours out is $30), guest privileges at $10 a visit, ball machine rental at $10 a visit or $200 a year, discounted lessons, special-event discounts, the ability to book parties, and 10% off the pro shop.

Pickleball and golf membership are both included. See memberships for the six plans and their prices.

How does Buddy Up Tennis registration work?

Through Buddy Up for Life, not through us. Every athlete and every volunteer buddy signs up on the Buddy Up for Life website. Five Star Tennis Center does not manage those registrations or applications.

We run the clinic itself: 90 minutes a week, 30 of fitness and 60 of tennis. See the Buddy Up Tennis page.

Signing up, missing a class, getting a refund.

How do junior makeups work?

Three makeups per class, per session. Makeup days always fall on days off school and never on weekends, and the schedule is built to accommodate multiple school districts.

Book one through the class calendar or in the app.

How far in advance can I book a drop-in drill?

Members can reserve 7 days ahead. Non-members can reserve 48 hours ahead.

Drop-in drills run 1.5 hours, are point-play based, and are offered at USTA ratings 2.5, 3.0, 3.5 and 4.0. There is no season-long commitment.

What happens if I sign up for a drill and don’t show?

Players who sign up for a drop-in drill and fail to attend are not eligible for makeups, refunds or credits.

Can I get a refund on Tennis University?

Tennis University classes are non-refundable once you enroll. Withdrawals made one week before the start date receive credits instead.

There are no makeup days for Tennis University.

How do I cancel a private lesson?

Contact your coach directly. The front desk cannot cancel a private lesson for you.

A no-show is charged the full price of the lesson. A cancellation inside 24 hours is charged 50%. Full details are on the private lessons page.

How do I cancel my membership?

All memberships require 30 days’ written notice. Annual memberships must complete their 12-month contract before they can be canceled.

Memberships can only be put on hold for medical reasons, with a doctor’s note. To cancel, email membership@fivestartennis.com.
